When people say that the first year of marriage is the hardest, they aren’t just pulling your leg. We’ve been together almost 6 years now and I can easily say this one was the most challenging for us. It’s hard to pinpoint why for me, we’re the same people, our living arrangement didn’t change, we already had our son, and marriage just feels a lot like dating but now I get to wear a pretty ring and call him my husband.
L: What was the high point of our relationship this year?
R: This year?
L: Yep, this past year. What was your high point?
R: Probably getting married. That was pretty awesome, you looked gorgeous and it was a long time coming.
L: Ok, where do you want to go on vacation next?
R: I really want to go on a cruise, either to Alaska to look at the ice bolders and go fishing and see the whales. I think I really want to do a cruise and see more of the ocean.
L: Should we go with just us like our honeymoon or do you want to go as a family?
R: I wouldn’t mind just us. Something nice and romantic.
R: That’s a really weird question.
L: I know.
R: In the next year I think we should be starting the process of getting a house.
L: What’s one think I can work on?
R: Well, sometimes you make me mad but there’s nothing you can really be doing right now that you need to improve on. I know you’re always working, making money, paying bills. What can I complain about?
L: *laughs*I always say I focus more on the money so you can focus more on the dishes.
R: There you go, do more dishes.
L: What’s one thing you think you need to work on?
R: Getting my butt to work, finding a career. Going back to school.
L: What was your favorite moment from our wedding?
R:Probably the reception. I was really nervous at first. I think we had a lot of cool things we did. We involved Leo, the sand ceremony, the blanket ceremony. It was nice that we involved my Native culture. I think I relaxed more once we got to the reception.
L: What’s your favorite part of being married?
R: Making it official and finally being a family. I know it’s just a piece of paper, but now your finally a Haydin. It’s more to us, saying we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives. It’s not too different than before. We just get to wear rings right I like our lives right now.
