Destination: Our Honeymoon in Mexico

Destination: Our Honeymoon in Mexico

September 2017

It’s CRAZY to think we were in Mexico on our honeymoon almost 2 years ago. Mexico has my heart, and this was my second trip there. Because I’ve been there before, this time I wanted to make sure we got out to explore (and explore we did!). We went snorkeling with sea turtles, explored the caves, and my favorite part was visiting Tulum! We unfortunately lost our go pro SD card after the trip so we’re missing a lot of pictures from the caves and of diving. However, I was still able to get some GORGEOUS images of Tulum and we paid to get images from our adventure.

Our Honeymoon

If you haven’t been to Tulum or Mexico, you need to put it on your bucket list! Tulum is so rich in history. The city is home to ancient Mayan ruins and was the place they used as a port for Cuba. When the Spanish came to Mexico, they brought disease with them and the people left. This is why most of the ruins are still in tact. There is so much to say about Tulum, I was in awe as we crossed the jungle to this hidden city.

During this trip Richard realized how eye opening travel is was the defining moment. All his perceptions of Mexican culture were changed completely after our trip. We stayed at Secrets Akumal and it was a dream. The beaches were not crowded at all and the food was amazing. Unfortunately when we traveled, there were 3 hurricanes surrounding us. Crazy as it may be, we worked incredibly close with our travel agent to make sure we stayed safe during our stay. If you haven’t been before, I definitely recommend you add this to your bucket list. We’re already trying to plan our next trip!
